Here is a listing of some famous people who were hearing handicapped but lived life to the full. Some great people contributing to society which many other normal souls could not even think of doing.
Ludvig Van Beethoven: The great music composer. Partly deaf by the age of 28.
Helen Keller : Great achiever who was blind as well.
Alexander Graham Bell: Not deaf himself but was born of a deaf mother and married a deaf girl. Dedicated his first award winnings for the care of the deaf.
Matthew S Moore: Founder and President MSM Productions, Ltd. Publishers of Deaf Life Magazine and deaf.com
Heather Whitestone McCallum: Became the first Miss America with a disability in the year 1994.
Marlee Matlin: Famous actress. At the age of 21, she became the youngest recipient of the Oscar for the Best Actress award. Her debut film “Children of a lesser God” was critically acclaimed.
Gallaudet University: This is the world leader in liberal education and career development for deaf and hard-of-hearing undergraduate students.
